About

I opened Plumbago in August 2011 with the hope of starting a business that would allow me, a wife and mother, the opportunity of earning an income with the flexibility of determining my own working hours so that I could be there for my family.

The journey began with my sister Debbie Puttergill to whom I will always be grateful to for investing in my vision without hesitation and for being a founder of the business with me for the first year of trading. We shared a special time which l will always remember fondly.

Plumbago was the name we chose as it was our grandfathers favourite flower and it symbolised optimism for us being a resilient plant which is a quality we needed to have due to the fact that we opened the business during a time of recession. We had both inherited money from our father which we used as Capital to open the doors of ‘Plumbago’.

We started off with great enthusiasm, a small collection of finely crafted and unique products that I believed were artworks and the mission to make our shop a personal experience where we could connect with our customers and celebrate style as being personal and about living. These values have become the essence of Plumbago and I hope they will always be reflected by the way we interact and express ourselves.

With the support of our loyal customers who have given us tremendous encouragement and for
whom we are truly thankful for the shop has grown and become a livelihood for me and all the staff working at Plumbago.
